How time flies: it’s day two of Leweb11 and there is so much to do, so much to hear! Today I’ve been striking a balance between hearing the main conference sessions and mentoring some extremely interesting start-ups (I’m glad to say that there are some BizSpark members among them) who found me using the leweb presdo network tool. It And the passion of the startups has really made up for the fact that I’ve missed some of the conference: I quote communications coach and author Carmine Gallo who in his presentation today rightly said that you need both vision and passion to succeed in business, and to realize that they are separate qualities. Sounds obvious, doesn’t it? Well, while it may be logical, very few startups really manage to show that passion when it’s needed, whether in a pitch or a business plan or marketing effort.
But, when I could be torn away from mentoring, I did manage to catch some of the conference, including our own Chris Capossela, Senior Vice President, Microsoft Corporation, talking about the enormous opportunity for startups and developers to make an impact in the world. As he said, given the devices running on Windows, can you imagine the potential if you land your product or service on them? Of course I’m biased
So back to why I’m really here – to meet more cool start-ups, one of my favorites today being sponsoringsolutions.com. This French company is working on a platform that helps companies find the right event to sponsor or use as a Launchpad for new products, as well as match-making event organizers with potential partners. Given how much time I know some people – including myself! – spend researching the best events to support, this could be a great time-saving solution.
